About Our Practice
Burwood & Bay Veterinary Hospital has been caring for pets in the Burwood, Concord and Canada Bay communities for more than 40 years.
As an independent practice, we put empathy, integrity and personalised care at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to providing exceptional veterinary care, supported by warm, open and honest communication.
We continue to invest in our people, facilities and equipment so we can offer modern treatments while maintaining the friendly, personal approach our community knows and trusts.

Founders
Dr Melissa Ball and Dr David Plumb purchased Burwood & Bay Veterinary Hospital together, with Melissa later becoming the practice’s sole owner.
Under Melissa’s care, the hospital built lasting relationships with local families and their pets. Her dedication, together with the care and commitment of the nursing team, helped shape the welcoming practice it is today. Nurse Carolyn has long been at the heart of the practice, providing continuity and a familiar face for our clients.
Our Ownership Today
In August 2023, veterinarians Olivia, Michael and Greg took over ownership of the practice, with Melissa remaining part of the team until her retirement in 2024. All three graduated together from the University of Sydney in 2001 and bring a wealth of veterinary experience.
In 2026, Paul Kennelly, originally from Ireland, bought into the clinic, joining Olivia, Michael and Greg as a fellow owner.
Our practice remains independent, with a shared commitment to high standards of care and strong connections with our community. We offer a broad range of procedures in-house, helping pets receive care in familiar surroundings.
Together, we’re building on the hospital’s proud history and continuing to care for local pets and their families for years to come.
We are an independent practice and have very high standards. We are able to offer most procedures at our practice rather than referring our patients away. We care very much about outcomes and will always provide your pet with exceptional care. Our communication around this care will be done in a warm, open and honest way. We will continue to invest in our practice and people to ensure up-to-date and modern treatments. Integrity and empathy will be at our core.
