Puppy Pre-school
Give your puppy the best possible start with Social Pups Puppy Pre-School, a fun and supportive four-week program designed for puppies aged approximately 8 to 16 weeks.
Classes are held at Enfield Veterinary Hospital, Burwood & Bay Veterinary Hospital’s sister clinic, and are hosted by Melissa Eagle.
Melissa is an experienced veterinary nurse who has worked at Enfield Veterinary Hospital for more than 10 years.
With her extensive veterinary nursing experience and practical puppy-training knowledge, Melissa helps families build confident, well-mannered and happy dogs.
Why is puppy pre-school beneficial?
The first few months of a puppy’s life are an important stage of learning and development. Positive experiences during this period can help shape how your puppy responds to new people, animals, environments and situations as they grow.
Puppy pre-school can help your puppy:
- Build confidence in a safe and controlled environment
- Develop appropriate social skills around people and other puppies
- Learn good manners and basic life skills
- Become more comfortable visiting a veterinary clinic
- Learn how to settle and regain focus
- Reduce common puppy behaviours such as biting, mouthing and jumping up
- Strengthen the bond between your puppy and your family
Classes also give owners the opportunity to ask questions, better understand normal puppy behaviour and learn practical training techniques to continue at home.
What will we cover?
Throughout the four-week program, Melissa will guide you through:
Settling techniques and regaining your puppy’s focus
Basic cues including sit, drop, leave it, touch and swap
Puppy biting and mouthing
Toilet training
Jumping up
Positive handling and confidence-building exercises
Helpful strategies for raising a calm and well-adjusted puppy
